Top 10 Songs of 2011

I'm just trying this out because I'm afraid to go back to LJ, and Tumblr won't allow you to post multiple videos. So here goes.

10. Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (Teenage Dream)

It's so stupid it might just be brilliant.

9. David Cook - Paper Heart (This Loud Morning)

Including this more out of loyalty than anything else, but it is pretty catchy. Wish more of the songs on This Loud Morning were like this one.

8. Hot Chelle Rae - Tonight Tonight (Whatever)

It's kind of stupid, but I was really depressed around May or June of this year and this and Last Friday Night were the only things that made me feel better. I'm not sure why. This song is totally disposable. But it was the only thing that worked for a while.

7. Kris Allen - Shut That Door And Keep That Devil Out (in the ether somewhere)

It's time for some BBQ, benches.

6. Jack and White - Gemini (Gemini EP)

I never really liked Brooke White's solo stuff, but I love her new duo project. It's all about sun-kissed California children and memories of Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles and I just adore it. This is my current favorite off of the EP.

5. Zac Brown Band - Keep Me In Mind (You Get What You Give)

I would have picked Colder Weather, but it technically came out as a single in 2010. Anyway, I really like this one, and I swear I'll buy the album as soon as it comes on sale.

4. NeedToBreathe - Wanted Man (The Reckoning)

I'm really nit sure how I became a huge NeedToBreathe stan. It just kind of snuck up on me. Anyway, I'm not sure why, but this one really gets to me.

3. Parachute - White Dress (The Way I Was)

For me, this band kind of puts front the romantic persona in their lyrics of someone who is perfect husband material. Of course, I assume Will's not that way in real life, but in song it's quite swoon worthy. Also, this band is really underappreciated and I really love their album.

2. The Civil Wars - Barton Hollow (Barton Hollow)

We're all going to hell, y'all!

1. Wild Flag - Romance (Self Titled)

Though I suspect the main reason the critics love this band it's because they're reliving their teenage years when they used to listen to lots of riot grrl music, I have seen them live and they're an incredible act. I mean, you really have to admire it when a fortysomething woman is so dedicated to rocking out that she lays on the floor in a minidress so she can concentrate on her guitar solo. None of that is happening in this video, of course. But this was the catchiest, most joyful song of 2011 as far as I'm concerned.
